CCTV images have been released of two men detectives want to speak to over a serious assault on a bus in Glasgow.

A 45-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being hit with a bottle on the number 9 First Bus travelling from the south side of Glasgow at around 6pm on Saturday, January 30.

Detectives want to question two men pictured in CCTV images from the bus.

The first man is described as white, with red hair and a beard. At the time of the incident he was wearing a green and white Adidas tracksuit top, a light coloured cap and carrying a rucksack.

The second man is described as a white and at the time of the incident he was wearing a jacket with high visibility stripes, a light coloured hooded top and a winter hat with ear flaps. He was also carrying a rucksack.

The men were pictured close to Oswald Street, near the Broomielaw on the north side of the Clyde.

Detective constable Nikki McPherson from Govan CID said: "This was brutal attack that took place on public transportation. This assault left a man seriously injured and the other passengers in a state of shock.

"It is important that we trace the people responsible as soon as possible. We have issued images of two men that we wish to speak to in connection with this incident.

"Anyone with any information as to the identity of these men is asked to contact police. We are also asking that anyone who witnessed this incident and is yet to come forward and speak to police, please get in contact.

"Anyone with information can contact officers at Govan CID via 101."
