Police officers seriously injured in 'attack' outside shop
Male officer's arm dislocated while female colleague suffers a serious facial injury.
Two police officers were left seriously injured after a disturbance outside a convenience store.
The incident happened outside Scotmid in Dumfries on Wednesday afternoon and left a male and female officer needing hospital treatment.
A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene on Lochside Road at around 5.20pm over the alleged assault.
The male officer suffered a dislocated arm while his female colleague needed treatment for a serious facial injury.
A statement from Police Scotland said: "We are seeking witnesses to a serious disturbance which took place outside the Scotmid Store in Lochside Road in Dumfries at around 5.20pm on Wednesday.
"At that time a 27-year-old man was arrested by police officers, however, the two officers, a male and a female, received serious injuries in the incident.
"Both later attended hospital where the female officer was treated for a serious facial injury and the male officer for a dislocated arm.
"We would ask that anyone who saw this incident call us at Dumfries on the 101 number."
