A man has been seriously injured after a fire at a caravan park.

Emergency services were called to the park at Peacockbank Farm in Stewarton, Ayrshire, around 5.15am on Thursday.

Upon arrival they found a 50-year-old man with serious burn injuries.

A police spokeswoman said: "A 50-year-old man was found nearby suffering from serious burns.

"He was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as serious."

Police Scotland would not confirm whether the incident was linked to the discovery of the woman's body an hour later at a house nearby.

A spokeswoman said: "At the moment it's two incidents in close proximity and inquiries are continuing into both."
