A fuel leak from an overturned lorry partially blocked the A75 in Dumfries on Friday morning.

Police were called to the HGV crash at Cuckoo Bridge Roundabout near the A76 Glasgow Road junction before 6am.

The driver of the articulated lorry suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The road was initially closed but has been partially reopened and traffic is heavy in both directions.

The eastbound carriageway is currently closed and a Police Scotland spokeswoman said it is likely to be "several hours before the road can be fully opened again".

Traffic Scotland is advising motorists to be cautious and said: "The A75 is currently restricted at the junction of the A76 - Cuckoo Roundabout due to a road traffic accident.

"Drivers are advised to approach with care and expect longer than normal journey times."
