A teenager has been arrested in connection with a number of alleged bomb threats to schools in the Glasgow area.

The 15-year-old boy was arrested on Wednesday over hoax calls made to schools in Lanarkshire and Clydebank.

The boy is not being held in custody but is set to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday.

A report will be submitted the Procurator Fiscal.

In a statement, police said: "Police Scotland takes hoax calls extremely seriously. They divert police resources, cause disruption and alarm the public."

He is the third teenager arrested this month in connection with hoax bomb threats to schools.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested and detained on Sunday in connection with similar threats to schools in Ayrshire.
