Two more fans have been arrested over trouble at the Scottish Cup final at Hampden in May, bringing the total to 40.

Thousands of Hibs fans flooded on to the pitch at the national stadium in Glasgow on May 21 to celebrate their team's 3-2 win over Championship rivals Rangers.

A smaller number of fans of the Ibrox side also ran on to the pitch, with some supporters from both sides involved in violent clashes.

Mounted police officers were called in to restore order after what the SFA described as "contemptible behaviour" from some supporters following the final whistle.

Police confirmed on Tuesday that an 18-year-old man and 27-year-old man have been arrested. The teenager appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday and the other man is expected to appear on Tuesday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A further two men have been arrested in relation to the alleged violence and disorder at the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday, May 21.

"A 27-year-old man was arrested on Monday and an 18-year-old man was arrested on Sunday July 3."
