The body of missing pensioner Thomas Lamb has been found at a golf course near Cumbernauld.

A major search had been launched for Mr Lamb, 79, after he was last seen alive on Saturday, July 2 in the North Lanarkshire town.

He had recently lost his wife and his family had appealed for help in finding him.

On Monday afternoon, Mr Lamb's body was found at Palacerigg Golf Course.

His son Tommy announced on Facebook: "Just to let you know my dad was found today at Palacerigg, he is at peace now and with my mum.

"I wish to thank everyone for the support we as a family received through the last few weeks it will never be forgotten, rest in peace dad love you."

Police Scotland confirmed a man's body has been found at the golf course by a member of the public around 2.50pm on Monday.
