The eastbound carriageway of the M8 was closed for much of Tuesday after a lorry jackknifed across two lanes on Tuesday morning.

Two people were injured in the incident at junction 6 near Newhouse, at around 11.30am.

Emergency services were called to the scene and worked to repair the barrier, which was damaged in the crash.

The eastbound section of the motorway was closed for several hours, and the westbound carriageway was closed to one lane.

Congestion on the road began to clear around 8.20pm.
