A 14-year-old girl has been arrested after a teenage boy was stabbed in Annan.

The alleged attack took place on Drummond Road in the Dumfries and Galloway town at about 2am on Tuesday.

The boy, also 14, was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment to puncture wounds.

The girl was arrested and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.

A police spokesman said: "A 14-year-old boy from the town was treated at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for what are described as puncture wounds.

"A 14-year old-girl from Annan has been arrested and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have been in or around Drummond Road or Winterhope Road in Annan between 2am and 2.30am on Tuesday morning to come forward and speak to us in relation to anything they may have witnessed."
