A man has died following a crash which left four others injured, including two children.

Kai Milligan, 21, died after the one-car crash on the B7024 near Blairston Mearns in Ayr on Saturday.

The 19-year-old woman driving the Vauxhall Corsa northbound appeared to have lost control of the vehicle before it left the road.

Emergency services were called to the incident shortly before 5pm but Mr Milligan, from Maybole, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 15-year-old boy was injured and is currently being treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow, where his condition is described as stable.

A 12-year-old boy is in a stable condition at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

The 19-year-old driver and a 17-year-old female passenger were also treated for minor injuries.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Andy Johnston said: "Our enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash, and I would ask anyone who witnessed the crash or who saw the car involved on the B7024 before the incident to contact our office.

"Anyone with information that may assist our investigation should contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine through the 101 number."
