Drugs worth almost a quarter of a million pounds have been seized after police stopped two vehicles in the west of Scotland.

Cocaine and cannabis with an estimated street value of £235,000 were recovered when the vehicles were searched in Uplawmoor, East Renfrewshire, and Stewarton, East Ayrshire.

Both operations took place around 6.55pm on Friday but police did not say if they were believed to be linked.

Two men, aged 35 and 40, were arrested and detained in custody in connection with the recovery.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

The men are expected to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday.
