Two more supporters have been held over trouble at May's Scottish Cup final at Hampden, with the total number of arrests now at 58.

The men were arrested in connection with alleged violence and disorder at the Hibernian v Rangers match at Hampden on Saturday, May 21, which ended in a pitch invasion.

Thousands of Hibs fans flooded on to the pitch at the national stadium in Glasgow to celebrate their team's 3-2 win over Championship rivals Rangers.

A smaller number of fans of the Ibrox side also ran on to the pitch, with some supporters from both sides involved in violent clashes.

Mounted police officers were called in to restore order after what the SFA described as "contemptible behaviour" from some supporters following the final whistle.

Police confirmed on Wednesday that a 23-year-old man was arrested and detained in police custody in connection with offences under the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act.

A 40-year-old man was also arrested and detained over offences under the act as well as an alleged assault.

A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Detectives are continuing the major investigation and have launched a fresh appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "The police investigation is continuing into the violence and disorder, and officers are continuing to appeal to anyone with information that may assist their enquiries to contact the inquiry team on 0141 532 5457 or scottishcupfinalpitchinvasion@scotland.pnn.police.uk.
