CCTV images of a man have been released by police after a woman was attacked during a robbery bid on a busy city centre street.

Detectives are probing an assault with intent to rob on Hope Street in Glasgow on the night of Monday, May 30.

The 26-year-old victim was assaulted and threatened by a man who demanded she hand over her belongings.

Officers are hunting the man pictures in the CCTV images and have appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.

The suspect is described as white, 20 to 30, of slim build, around 5ft 10in with short brown hair.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a light blue T-shirt with white stripes - similar to an Argentina football top - dark blue combat shorts, dark trainers and dark glasses on top of his head.

Detective sergeant Raymond Hunter, from the Greater Glasgow Community Investigation Unit, said: "Although physically unharmed, the woman was left in a real state of fear and alarm.

"No one should have to encounter behaviour like this in our community. I would ask anyone with information relating to this incident to contact police via 101"
