A pedestrian has suffered potentially "life-threatening injuries" after being knocked down by a bus in the west end of Glasgow.

The collision occurred in Argyle Street, Finnieston, at around 9.40am on Monday and involved a westbound single-decker First Bus.

Police Scotland said the 46-year-old man was struck by the vehicle near to Old Dumbarton Road, outside the Tesco Express.

A police spokesperson said the man had been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital suffering from "serious, possibly life-threatening, injuries".

The 36-year-old male driver of the bus and the passengers on board were uninjured.

Sergeant Jackie Dunbar, Greater Glasgow Divisional Road Policing Unit, said: "Whilst we have spoken to a number of people stopped to try and help the injured man, we still need to hear from others who may have witnessed the crash or who have any information that will help us with our investigation.

"Details can be passed to the Greater Glasgow Divisional Road Policing Unit, Govan, Glasgow, via 101."

Old Dumbarton Road at Argyle Street, Sauchiehall Street at Argyle Street and Argyle Street and Sauchiehall Street at Kelvin Way were closed.

Police said local diversions were in place, before the roads reopened at around 1.40pm.
