A motorcyclist has died in a crash with a BMW on the A710 in Dumfries.

Calum McMorrin, 24, from Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash involving his Yamaha motorbike and a BMW 1 series.

The incident happened at around 3.10pm on Sunday, August 7, on the A710 at Mainsriddle, Southerness.

The 39-year-old woman driver of the BMW was uninjured.

A full report will now be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Sergeant Paul Dodds from Castle Douglas Police Office has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He said: "Enquiries are continuing into this crash and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was driving on the A710 near to Mainsriddle, Southerness, Dumfries, around the time of the crash to contact police as they may have information that will assist our investigation.

"I would also appeal to anyone who was travelling on the A710 prior to the collision occurring who has a dash-cam fitted to their vehicle, to contact us as this may also help us establish the circumstances which led to the crash."
