The body of a man has been discovered in woodland next to a secondary school.

Detectives launched a major investigation after the man was found dead in the Pollok area of Glasgow on Monday night.

Officers remained at the scene on Damshot Road near St Paul's High School into Tuesday afternoon as forensic teams examined the area and door-to-door inquiries were carried out.

The man has not yet been identified and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The death is being treated as unexplained.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Around 10.15am on Monday, August 8, police received a report of a man's body being discovered within wooded area near to Damshot Road, Pollok.

"Police enquiries are at early stage to establish his identity and the circumstances surrounding his death.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course."
