An assault victim remains in hospital after being attacked as he made his way home from a night out in Glasgow.

The 42-year-old is being treated at the Queen Elizabeth University hospital following the incident on North Street at 3am on Saturday.

Officers are continuing their inquiries into the assault, which they believe was unprovoked.

Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, near Sauchiehall Street at Charing Cross, has been asked to come forward.

Detectives have been trawling CCTV but a description of the suspect has not been released.

Witnesses are asked to contact detectives at Drumchapel Police Office on 101.
