A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a 40-year-old in his flat in North Lanarkshire.

Gordon Adam McCrone, 45, is accused of killing Malcolm McLaren, who was found dead at his home on Clark Street in Airdrie on September 29.

McCrone, of Airdrie, appeared at the town's sheriff court on Monday.

He made no plea or declaration in relation to the murder charge.

McCrone was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is expected to appear in court again next week.
