A woman was sexually assaulted on a riverside walkway in the early hours of the morning.

Detectives have launched an investigation into the incident in Glasgow city centre on Tuesday and are hunting for the man behind the attack at around 1am.

The 18-year-old victim was subjected to a sexual assault as she walked down a path along the River Clyde next to the Broomielaw.

A section of the path was cordoned off into Tuesday afternoon while investigations got under way.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 1.05am on Tuesday, police received a report of an 18-year-old woman being sexually assaulted in the Broomielaw area in Glasgow City Centre.

"Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."
