A 13-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after he was hit by two cars in the west end of Glasgow.

The teenager was struck by an Audi and a Ford Fiesta while crossing the road in Scotstoun on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened at around 2.40pm on Dumbarton Road between Harland Street and Lennox Avenue.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said police remain in attendance and the road has been closed in both directions while investigations get under way and the area is cleared.

She added the child has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital for treatment and his condition is described by medical staff as critical.

The spokeswoman said: "Enquiries are continuing."
