A man suffered serious facial injuries in an "unprovoked" attack at Argyle Street train station in Glasgow city centre.

The victim was approached by two men when he walked into the station at around 10.25pm on Thursday, said British Transport Police.

He was left with facial injuries which required hospital treatment.

The two men then took his jacket before fleeing the scene in the direction of the Trongate.

Both attackers are white and aged in their 20s. One was wearing a white tracksuit and the other was wearing a black top and jeans.

Constable Mark Harrington said: "We are trying to work out the exact circumstances of what happened here, but at the moment we believe this was completely unprovoked.

"I would like to speak to anyone who was in the station at the time or thinks they may be able to help with the investigation."
