A young woman was dragged to the ground and attacked during a robbery near Glasgow University.

The 20-year-old was walking along Kelvin Way in the west end of the city on Sunday night when she was targeted by a man.

She was assaulted by her attacker, who took her mobile phone before making off at around 11pm.

The woman did not need hospital treatment but was left badly shaken.

Police believe the attacker may have had an accomplice, another man, who had a bicycle.

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage in the area and have appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.

The first man is described as white, around 5ft 8in, with a gaunt appearance, a large nose and bushy eyebrows. There is currently no information on the second man.

Detective constable Alan Watt, from the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan, said: "A young woman has been left badly shaken by this attack and it's crucial we speak to anyone who may have seen what happened so I'm appealing for people who were in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.

"In particular, we would like to trace a man who was in a small black car, parked on Kelvin Way around that time and I would urge this man to contact us as he may have information which could assist our investigation and help us trace those responsible."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers at the Community Investigation Unit based in Govan via 101.
