A man has been arrested after a Muslim cultural centre was torched in the days following the 2015 Paris attacks.

The blaze happened at the Bishopbriggs Cultural Centre, know as Al Sarouk, on November 17 last year.

No one was in the building at the time but the property was severely damage before firefighters extinguished the flames.

Police said the fire was deliberate and possibly motivated by religious hatred.

On Thursday, they confirmed a 41-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident.

He has been detained in police custody and is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.
