A man has been arrested in connection with a spate of violent street robberies which left four women injured.

The women, aged between 18 and 47, were hurt in the alleged attacks, which happened in the space of around eight hours on Tuesday.

All of the women were walking in the street alone in Glasgow and had their handbags stolen. The incident happened in the west end and east end of the city on Tuesday.

Police launched an investigation and confirmed on Friday a man has now been arrested in connection with the incidents.

He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "A 20-year-old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with all four incidents. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
