A hunt is under way for a gang of armed men who burst into a house and repeatedly stabbed their victim.

The 35-year-old man was targeted by three men in an attempted murder at his home in Paisley, Renfrewshire, on Monday afternoon.

The attackers forced their way into the house in Hollybush Avenue at around 4.10pm and left the man with a number of stab wounds before fleeing the scene.

He was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as serious.

Two of the suspects were seen running away from the house towards Nethercraigs Road and are described as white, aged between 20 and 30 and both were wearing grey tracksuits.

There is currently no information on the third suspect. Door-to-door enquiries have been carried out in the area and officers are looking for CCTV as the hunt continues.

Detective inspector Sandy Nelson said: "We have yet to establish a motive for this attack, however, we believe the 35-year-old man was targeted by the suspects.

"We are in the process of collecting CCTV footage from in and around the area which will be scrutinised by officers for any additional information which could assist the investigation.

"I would like to appeal to the local community to get in touch, this incident occurred late afternoon when there would still have been lots of people around.

"I am asking anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to call Detectives at Paisley Police Office via 101.
