A woman and two-year-old girl are in hospital after a two-car smash involving a BMW.

The crash happened on the A711 road near Kirkgunzeon, in Dumfries and Galloway at around 9.10am on Thursday.

A BMW car being driven by a 21-year-old man and a red Mazda 3 car being driven by a 47-year-old woman and carrying a toddler collided near Corra Farm.

The driver of the Mazda and the toddler were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary by ambulance for treatment.

Constable Ian Nish, at Castle Douglas Police Office, said: "We believe there were other cars at the scene when this crash happened and I would ask that the drivers come forward with any information they might have regarding the crash. Callers can contact us on the 101 number."
