An eight-year-old boy has been injured after a smash between a bus and industrial vehicle in Glasgow.

The child, who was on the double-decker First Bus, was taken to hospital after the crash in Shawlands on Tuesday morning.

Part of the large industrial vehicle crashed through the top window of the bus as the vehicles collided on Pollokshaws Road outside the Granary pub at around 10am.

The 43-year-old male driver of the bus has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 10am police received a report of a crash involving a bus and another vehicle on Pollokshaws Road at its junction with Kilmarnock Road in Shawlands.

"The road was closed and enquiries are ongoing."

A First Glasgow spokesperson said: "First Glasgow can confirm that one of our buses has been involved in an incident on Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow, this morning.

"We are working closely with the emergency services and have launched a full investigation to establish what happened. Our thoughts are with those affected."
