Fresh sightings of a 58-year-old woman missing for two weeks are being investigated by police.

Janet McQueen was last seen by a neighbour leaving her home in Langside Road, Govanhill, at around 9pm on October 18.

Following an appeal for information from Ms McQueen's sister last week, several witnesses have come forward with potential sightings of her in Bennan Square, Govanhill, on October 27.

Police have been carrying out door to door inquiries, but so far there has been no sign of the 58-year-old, who is well known in the local area.

On the day that she disappeared a bus driver in Baillieston called the police when he noticed how distressed Ms McQueen was on the bus.

She was taken home to a family where the police left her before she left later and disappeared.

She did not take any money or her mobile phone and left her pet dog at home.

Ms McQueen is described as white, 5ft, of slim build with short black hair.

She was wearing glasses, a navy blue anorak and dark coloured trousers.

Chief inspector Graeme McInarlin said: "It's now been two weeks since Janet was reported missing.

"We have carried out a number of appeals over that time, and whilst we've been encouraged by the response from the public, we've yet to confirm another sighting of Janet since she was seen by a neighbour at 9pm on the evening she went missing.

"A number of people have come forward to say that there may have been a few potential sightings of Janet, and these are being actively followed up.

"One of these is at Bennan Square, Govanhill on Thursday 27 October, and we've been carrying out widened searches in and around that area, which include door to door enquiries. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to locate Janet.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to appeal again to the local community of Govanhill and surrounding areas to study Janet's picture - have you seen her? Do you have any information which might assist with our ongoing missing person enquiry? If so, please contact police on 101."
