Police are investigating after a van driver tried to lure a young boy into his vehicle.

The ten-year-old boy was walking home from school along Highfield Drive in Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, around 3.20pm on Tuesday when the man opened the passenger door and spoke to him.

After telling the child that he knew his parents, the driver offered him a lift home.

The boy refused and when he arrived home he told his mother, who alerted police.

An investigation has been launched and extra officers are now patrolling the nearby streets to reassure locals.
