A man has been arrested over the armed robbery of a man as he left his house.

The 38-year-old victim was targeted in Merlinford Avenue, Renfrew, around 7.45am on Thursday, October 27.

Police initially said two men armed with firearms forced the man back into his home where they allegedly assaulted him and threatened his 67-year-old mother before making off with personal items.

On Friday, detectives said a 33-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident.

He has been detained in custody and is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
