A body found in woods has been confirmed as that of a boy who disappeared from home almost two months ago.

Scott Diver, 16, was reported missing after he disappeared from his home in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, on the afternoon of Saturday, September 17.

He was last seen at home on Second Avenue in the town in the early afternoon and family members reported him missing after becoming concerned.

Officers confirmed on Monday that a body found in Old Kilpatrick, West Dunbartonshire, last week is Scott's.

A statement from police said: "Around 1pm on Thursday November 3, police were called to a report of the body of a young man found within a wooded area near to Old Kilpatrick.

"Sadly, the body has now been formally identified as that of Scott Diver who had been missing from his home in Clydebank since Saturday, September 17. Relatives are aware.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal."
