Detectives are hunting for a killer after a man was found dead in a flat in Glasgow.

Officers were called to the property in Knightswood on Monday night where they found the body of a man, who has yet to be identified, inside.

The discovery was made on Lincoln Avenue at around 8.45pm and police are treating the death as suspicious.

They are carrying out door-to-door enquiries as well as scouring CCTV footage from the area. Police remain at the scene.

Detective inspector Alan McAlpine, who is now leading the investigation, said: "The man is still to be formally identified.

"A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death.

"We are treating the death as suspicious at this time. Extensive enquiries are ongoing and specialist forensic teams have been active at the scene."

He added: "At this time I am seeking the assistance of the local community to provide us with any information. I am asking them to think back across the last week.

"Have you heard anything unusual? Did you witness any kind of disturbance?

"The information you have may not seem like much, but as part of our broader investigation it could make all the difference."

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at the incident room at Govan Police Office on 101.
