Three workmen have been seriously injured after a wall collapsed at a Glasgow building site.

The incident took place at the yard on Vinicombe Street, just off Byres Road in the west end, at around 1.20pm on Friday.

Three ambulances, a paramedic support unit, a special operations response team and police were sent to the scene.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said one worker was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and two others were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow.

Their injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.

The men were working on a multi-million pound project to convert a historic garage into restaurants and a gym.

Arnold Clark own the A-listed building, believed to be the oldest surviving motor garage in Glasgow, and had been behind the renovation plans.

A spokeswoman for the firm said: "We are aware of an incident that has occurred at the Vinicombe Street site and we are working with the emergency services at this time.

"We will be conducting a full investigation in due course and at the moment our priority is to assist the team of contractors that have been affected."
