A teenager is to stand trial charged with murdering a pensioner in his flat in Glasgow.

Imrich Joni is accused of killing 68-year-old Gordon Bolam in Kenmure Street, Pollokshields, and then hiding the body at some time between June 29 and July 14 last year.

It is claimed the 19 year-old murdered the OAP having earlier been banned from going into Glasgow.

Prosecutors state Mr Bolam was struck on the head, neck and body with a knife and a mug or similar items and suffered further blunt force injuries by "means unknown".

The allegation also claims the teenager then placed a ligature around Mr Bolam's neck.

Joni faces a separate charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice, accused of hiding the remains in a wardrobe and piling clothes and bags on top of the body.

He also allegedly cleaned the flat to try to remove blood, as well as ditching clothes, trainers and a knife.

Joni is further accused of breaching a bail order imposed by a sheriff on June 20, 2015.

A condition was said to be he did not enter Glasgow other than for the "purpose of attending court".

He faces final charges of breaking into the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh on July 30 or 31 and having bladed items in a public place.

His QC John Scott entered not guilty pleas during a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday.

Judge Lady Scott set a trial due to start on April 11 in Edinburgh.
