A double-decker bus and car crashed just three hours after a two-vehicle smash at the same spot.

Police were called to a road smash involving two cars in the east end of Glasgow at around 1.30pm on Friday.

No one was injured but one man was taken to hospital for checks while officers remained on the Gallowgate at its junction with Bellgrove Street while the scene was cleared.

Then at around 4.10pm a double decker bus and car collided with each other at the same spot.

No one was injured in the second smash but the area has been sealed off by police while the scene is cleared.

A police spokesman said: "Police remain at the scene while inquires continue and recovery of vehicles takes place."

A statement from Glasgow City Council said: "The junction of Gallowgate at Bellgrove Street is currently restricted to all traffic due to an earlier accident.

"Police are currently on site and a pointsman is directing traffic. Please use caution approaching this junction as accident investigation/recovery is still taking place."
