A murder accused has appeared in court after a man was allegedly pushed down a flight of stairs and hit his head on a vacuum cleaner.

Ralph Goldie allegedly killed Jeremy Paradine on Saturday at a block of flats in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire.

The 39-year-old was also charged with assaulting Martin McQueenie to the danger of his life at Kyle Court.

Goldie appeared in private from custody on Monday at Glasgow Sheriff Court, represented by Kenny Pringle.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody by sheriff Daniel Scullion.

Papers from the court claim Goldie pushed Mr Paradine, 45, on the body causing him to fall down a set of stairs and hit his head on a vacuum cleaner.

He is accused of repeatedly stamping or jumping on Mr Paradine's body and murdering him.

Goldie, from Cambuslang, is charged with pushing Mr McQueenie, causing him to fall down stairs, and repeatedly kicking him on the head and body and stamping on his body, to his severe injury and danger of life.

He will appear next week again for a full committal hearing.
