Rail services between Oban and Glasgow Queen Street will not run for two days after a lorry hit a bridge.

The HGV collided with the bridge at Taynuilt on Thursday, leading to many trains being cancelled or experiencing long delays.

Scotrail said the repairs will not be completed before the end of service on Friday but later confirmed this would remain in place until Sunday.

The company's website said: "A HGV has collided with a bridge and caused extensive damage. The estimate for repairs to be completed is start of service on Monday, January 23.

"We're operating a bus shuttle service between Oban and Dalmally calling at all the stops that the train normally would. The busses will run as close to train time as possible, but we'd recommend you give yourself a little extra time if possible.

"If you have an onward connection to make please let a member of staff know."
