The girlfriend of a man who died in a New Year's Day blaze at his parents' home has said "thank you to everyone who's helped me".

Rebecca Williams, known as Bex, was initially in a critical condition following the fire at Cameron Logan's family home in Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire.

The 24-year-old was discharged from hospital after more than two weeks of recovery and issued a statement the following day.

Blair Logan, 26, appeared in court on Monday charged with murdering his brother, a 23-year old psychology student, and was remanded in custody.

He was also charged with assault to severe injury, danger to life and attempted murder when he appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.

Ms Williams, a broadcast journalist, released the statement through her colleagues at Heart Radio.

She said: "I want to say thank you to everyone who's helped me.

"I am so grateful to the fire crews, paramedics and police officers, and to all the hospital staff who have looked after me.

"I'm getting stronger every day, with my family and friends around me."

Ms Williams was rescued from the Achray Place house and was initially treated at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow before being moved to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Mr Logan's parents were taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
