A schoolboy who was reported missing has been traced.

Nathan McDermott had last seen at his home in Greenock, Inverclyde, at around 12.50pm on Thursday.

Police launched an appeal to trace the youngster, which focused on his home town and Drumchapel in Glasgow.

On Friday, the force confirmed they had found Nathan.

A police spokeswoman said: "Nathan McDermott, 12, who had been missing from Greenock since Thursday January 19 has been traced safe and well in the Glasgow area.

"Thanks to everyone who shared the appeal for information."
