The funeral of a Scots couple who died in a bus crash while on a holy pilgrimage to Mecca is due to be held on Sunday.

Mohammad and Talat Aslam from Newlands, Glasgow, were killed as travelled back to Medina in Saudi Arabia.

It is understood that the bus driver fell asleep at the wheel.

Four members of a family from Manchester, including a baby boy, were also killed.

Mr and Mrs Aslam's relatives announced that their funeral would take place in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

The Janazah, the Islamic funeral prayer, will be said following noon prayers in Medina.

The funerals of the other four victims, with whom the couple were friends, will also be held on Sunday.

Mr and Mrs Alslam, who were 72 and 62 respectively, leave behind five children.

Tributes flooded in for the pair, who were members of Glasgow Central Mosque, after the incident on Wednesday.

Mrs Aslam was described as the "heart of the family" and a "true gem".
