A man was knocked off his motorbike in a hit-and-run in Dumfries and Galloway.

The 24-year-old was struck by a car on the A709 near Hunter House in Lochmaben at about 1.30pm on Saturday.

He fell off his red Lexmoto motorcycle while the driver of the car failed to stop following the incident.

The motorcyclist received bruising while his motorbike was slightly damaged, officers said.

Police constable Lee Barnfather said: "It amazes me that the driver of the car failed to stop after the crash.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who might have witnessed this collision or even the driver of the car if they wish to come forward to clear the matter up."
