A man has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder another man, following an alleged hit-and-run in Glasgow city centre.

Jordan Devine, 22, allegedly attempted to murder Brian McNulty on January 11 on Jamaica Street.

He also faces charges under the Road Traffic Act of failing to stop, and failing to report an accident.

Devine, from Newlands, Glasgow, appeared in private on Monday from custody at the city's sheriff court where he was represented by Anna MacKay.

He made no plea or declaration and was granted bail by sheriff Norman Ritchie QC.

Prosecutors claim that Devine drove a car "deliberately and at speed" at Mr McNulty, 32, causing the car to hit him.

The charges alleges that "as a consequence Brian McNulty was thrown in to the air and landed on the road to his severe injury".

It is expected Devine will appear again at court at a later date.
