Scots footballer Islam Feruz has admitted driving an £80,000 Porsche while disqualified.

The 21-year-old appeared at Glasgow's Justice of the Peace Court on Wednesday to face the charge.

He also pled guilty to driving on September 9, 2015 at Nelson Street, Glasgow without any insurance.

Prosecutors claimed he attempted to pervert the course of justice by telling police he was Saeed Cabadella but his not guilty plea was accepted to that charge.

Sheriff Colin Dunipace continued the case until later this month for reports and continued bail and handed Feruz, from Lenzie, East Dunbartonshire, his driving licence back until he gets sentenced.

The former Celtic youth player who is on loan to Swindon Town from Chelsea, was due to go on trial last year at the court but failed to appear and it was heard he was training in Tanzania.

In August 2014, he was banned from driving for 18 months and fined £500 after a sheriff branded his driving "dangerous and outrageous".

He was convicted of driving a black BMW 3 series at speeds of up to 70mph between George Square and Wishart Street, Glasgow, on December 30, 2012.

The striker was also found guilty of driving with no insurance and not displaying L plates.

Somalian-born Feruz had been tipped as a future star after joining Celtic aged ten after the club successfully campaigned for him and his relatives to stay in Scotland. After six years, he left for Chelsea.
