A man has appeared in court charged with seriously assaulting another man on a bus.

Kenneth Kerr, 39, was arrested over the incident on a vehicle on Neilston Road in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

Kerr, of Paisley, was charged with assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger of life.

His alleged victim is said to have suffered serious injuries while on a McGill's bus at around 11.15am on Saturday.

Mr Kerr made no plea or declaration during the private hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court and was committed for further examination.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
