A second man has been arrested over an alleged spate of robberies in North Lanarkshire.

The 30-year-old was due to appear in Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday after incidents in which residents were said to have been threatened at knife-point.

Two cars were also allegedly stolen in the three incidents on Saturday, May 13.

The first incident is believed to have happened on Hillrigg in Greengairs at around 6.20am with the second allegedly taking place at Killearn Crescent, Plains, at 7.05am.

Another robbery is then said to have occurred on Orchill Drive, Plains, at 7.14am.

Police Scotland confirmed a man has been detained in police custody.

It comes after a 29-year-old man was arrested and appeared in court on Thursday in connection with the same incidents.
