A robber threatened a shopkeeper with a knife before cycling away with stolen cash.

The raid happened at Gindah General Store on Barscube Terrace in Paisley, Renfrewshire, on Tuesday.

Nobody was injured in the incident but the shopkeeper was left "badly shaken", police said.

The thief, who escaped with a three-figure sum, cycled away in the direction of Hunterhill Road.

Detective sergeant Michael Lochrie said on Wednesday: "This incident occurred around lunchtime in a well-established residential area.

"I am appealing to members of the local community to consider what they may have seen yesterday, it may seem an insignificant event but it could prove vital and help us identify the suspect."

The thief was reportedly 5ft 7in with a very slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top, dark blue trousers and a black balaclava and gloves.

He cycled away on a silver mountain bike.
