Three men were injured in an attack by a gang of teenagers during a street parade.

The incident happened at about 5.40pm on Saturday on Mill Green, Dumfries, as the town celebrated its annual Guid Nychburris Day festival.

Up to ten youths, said to be in their mid-teens and wearing sports clothing, are said to have attacked the three men, who were aged 19, 20 and 21.

Detective Constable Paul Steele said "The town was very busy around this time with the Guid Nychburris celebrations in full swing.

"We want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what was a serious disturbance on the Mill Green at this time involving up to eight to ten youths, all of whom appeared to be in their mid-teens and were wearing casual sports-type clothing."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
