Hundreds of children with additional support needs have taken part in Glasgow Taxis' annual trip to the seaside.

Along with their parents and carers, the children were driven to Troon, South Ayrshire, and back in what was the 72nd such outing.

Cabbies again decorated their taxis and donned fancy dress before gathering for the start of the trip on Kelvin Way in the city's west end.

Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund chair Jim Buchanan said: "We're grateful to every single person who makes this happen, from our amazing drivers and volunteers, to the many businesses and organisations who get behind it.

"However, it's all about the children and the smiles on their faces are truly priceless, and that's what makes the event so special."

Glasgow Taxis executive committee chairman Stephen Flynn said: "We're very proud of all our drivers who have given up their time to support the Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund's trip to Troon and create such special memories for so many children."

The annual event is supported by Glasgow Taxis and Celtic FC Foundation, as well as sponsors Watermans and Stewart Milne Homes.

Glasgow Lord Provost Eva Bolander said: "Glasgow is known as the friendly city and also as the caring city, and I think that this shows both of these capacities very well.

"The children love it, driving down in a big procession with lots of balloons and they get snacks and things as well, so it's a fantastic day out for them."
