A 91-year-old woman has been seriously injured after a road crash in Callander, Stirlingshire.

The woman, who has not yet been named, was a passenger in a white Dacia Duster travelling north on Stirling Road when it collided with a blue Renault Modus heading  south.

She was seriously injured and was taken to the Forth Valley Royal Hospital where her condition is stable.

A 61-year-old woman driving the Dacia and the 62-year-old driver of the Modus were both also taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

The road was closed for around five and a half hours after collision, which happened about 4.55pm on Wednesday.

Police Inspector Andrew Thomson, from the Road Policing Unit at Stirlin,g said: "This collision has resulted three people being taken to hospital with multiple injuries.

"I would urge anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the incident or was on Stirling Road, Callander and witnessed the collision to contact us immediately.

"We believe that there were a number of pedestrians and other vehicles in the area around the time and I'm urging them to come forward as soon as possible."
