A man has appeared in court charged with injuring a police officer he allegedly knocked down.

Paul MacMillan is accused of causing serious injury to the 29-year-old officer by dangerous driving in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire.

MacMillan, 38, was arrested after the incident near in Ness Drive near the John Wright Sports Centre in the town on Wednesday night.

On Friday, he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court charged with failing to stop and obstructing police searching him under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

MacMillan, of Larkhall, was also accused of producing and being concerned in the supply of drugs.

He made no plea or declaration and his case was continued for further examination.

He was released on bail and will appear in court again at a later date.
